About Yaron Peer<\/h1><\/div>![\"yaron](\"https:\/\/yaronnew.monimono.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/about-3.jpg\")
Yaron was born in Israel in the year 1976.
\nAt the young age of five, he began studying music under the tutorship of Yair Delal; and these studies, which were the beginning of his journey continued for three years.<\/p>\n
Yair, who was then a university student and who worked a part time job at the preschool where Yaron\u2019s mother worked, transferred to Yaron the experience of music as both a plaything and a delight.<\/p>\n
During his teenage years, Yaron studied at the \u201cMoshevet HaOmanuyot\u201d school in Mitzpe Ramon where he delved into the visual arts. At 14 he began studying guitar, specializing in classical and Spanish styles.<\/p>\n
For about four years, Yaron lived and learned in this institution. Life surrounded by the desert views and in the close presence of artists and musicians garnered in his soul a broad field of creativity that became a means of expression. The endless horizons of the desert and the beauty of the nature sowed in Yaron the fine listening and the perception of silence as the beginning of the melody.<\/p>\n
He continued studying art at \u201cMachon Avni\u201d \u00a0in Tel Aviv and took private lessons in sketching and drawing with Avinoam Kosveski and other teachers. Drawing became his entire world and filled his being.<\/p>\n
For the duration of that year, Yaron drew and sketched the tree that overlooked his balcony on the fourth floor, onto paper, over and over again. It is incredible, how much prosperity lies in contemplating the same subject day after day, at different hours, and how much nuance can be found in bringing to expression the constant change of the moment.<\/p>\n
Quite surprisingly, most of the sketches that Yaron drew while in the city centered around trees and landscapes. Only after moving to the countryside (first to Kfar Hes, and later to Ein Vered where he was named \u201cthe artist at the edge of the village\u201d), did Yaron switch his focus to people and portraits. At a later stage, during his wanderings in the world, his focus in art shifted and he studied the art of miniature drawings and HEBRU which he later integrated with his style of Hebrew calligraphy art.<\/p>\n
In his twenties, Yaron began his journey through world music. His journey began in Greece where he was introduced to the Bazooka and the Rembatiko music.<\/p>\n
Yaron was mesmerized by the way that the scents and tastes of a place could be completely captured and transferred through the local music. Thus he began studying harp in the sleepy town of Hania, Crete. There the sailors were drunk from the sight of the sunrise on their return from sea, and the fresh cashew bread and olives transformed the mornings into a celebration and the night into a gathering of song and dance to the strumming of the harp and the laouto amidst swigs of wine and haraki.<\/p>\n
After a stay of a few months on the islands and a taste of local Crete and Greek music, Yaron returned to Israel to his teacher Yair Delal and began to learn the strumming of the Oud and the classical Arabian music.<\/p>\n
In the year 2000, along with Boaz Nikritin, he published a musical disc for children under the name \u201cThe Secret of the Silver Flute\u201d which was also performed as a musical over 1500 times throughout the country.<\/p>\n
At that time, the ensemble which Yaron had founded together with Boaz and Dodo Alkabir-Siala performed widely.<\/p>\n
Later that year, Yaron set his sights on Varanasi, India, where he discovered treasures of the ancient culture and began studying classical Indian music and the Sard instrument (an ancient string instrument made of leather and wood with three main strings \u00a0and 33 resonance strings).<\/p>\n
He studied under the close instruction of Pandit Santush Kumar Mishra who is a 14th generation Sard musician. After a few months of studying, Yaron was welcomed as an official student of the revered family dynasty of musicians. These studies, which began in the year 2000, continued passionately for ten years and still continue today. The theory of the ragas, the Indian rhythm, and most importantly, the study under the master Santush Kumar, became the foundation for Yaron\u2019s works and they are the main inspiration for the content upon which was written Yaron\u2019s guide to music as a spiritual path \u2013 \u201cSha\u2019arei HaHeychal\u201d \u00a0– \u201cThe Gates to the Hall\u201d.<\/p>\n
The years in India brought Yaron\u2019s path of creation to the realm of ancient music. Through the gently woven tradition that had passed from father to son for 4000 years, Yaron was able to taste the delicate sounds that were beyond time and to see the truth on which all music was based. This is where Yaron first began querying into the lost music of the Levites which had originated and spread from the Temple in Jerusalem thousands of years before.<\/p>\n

In the year 2001, Yaron settled in the Sinai Peninsula, and lived there alternately for a period of five years, all the while travelling to India to complete the next stage in his study of the ragas. During this dreamy time in the Sinai desert, Yaron learned Egyptian music, Bedouin music and Halijit music, focusing especially on the Sudanese style. The combination of the different musical styles with the ancient singing of the Kings of Israel birthed Yaron\u2019s first album \u2013 Orian, which was recorded almost fully in Sinai in collaboration with the finest world musicians from Israel and other places. The majority of the album is comprised of original tunes to the verses of the Psalms and Song of Songs.<\/p>\n
During these years, Yaron also spent half a year in Istanbul where he expanded on his study of Sufi music, and where he was exposed to the olden art of Hebru, which he added to his studies. The meeting between the Sufi singing and the foundations of Ottoman music sowed seeds in Yaron that sprouted to light in the form of his second album \u201cBo\u201d \u2013 \u201cReturn\u201d, which was released in 2008 and which includes original melodies and tunes to the great writings of Ravindrenat Tagor, Gelal Aydin, Rumi, and the Ramchal.<\/p>\n
In 2007 Yaron moved to the Galil and played in the Andalusian orchestra of Ma\u2019alot Tarshicha. He was also a part of the gypsy wedding band \u201cTsiganka\u201d and collaborated with Ori Shefi, Kalman Muskal, Reni Lorents, Shachar Kaufman and more.<\/p>\n
During these years Yaron studied with Peretz Eliyahu and even produced a few boutique retreats and workshops with Peretz in the special region of Sinai. The mountains and the sea transformed these workshops into a unique and thrilling experience \u2013 the studies would begin before dawn, at three, and with sunrise the group would step outside to welcome the day with singing and music. It was as if you could hear the entire creation delivering praise to its Creator.<\/p>\n
The continuation of his studies in India brought Yaron to delve into the Sufi style of the Qawallya.<\/p>\n
After paying a visit to Ajmar Barjistao and devoting himself completely to the translating of the Qawallya songs to Hebrew, Yaron founded in 2009 the Qawallya ensemble in Jerusalem. This ensemble specializes in the singing of Sufi Qawali in Hebrew and explores the Jewish-afghan music, which in is style is very similar to the Qawallya. This ensemble also plays an important part in Yaron\u2019s own investigation of the ancient music of the Temple which serves as an inspiration to\u00a0 all of Yaron\u2019s works.<\/p>\n
During this time, Yaron lived in Ein Karem and to this day he continues living in the hillsides surrounding Jerusalem.<\/p>\n
A visit to Gujarat (India) with the master Kokila Parmer, a rare singer with a beautifully sweet voice, brought Yaron to translate the emotions of the folk music of Gujarat that Yaron learned from her to Hebrew.<\/p>\n
With years, this visit transformed into a successful and unique collaboration with the singer Adi Arnon and brought forth the creation of the album \u201cBetoch Klipat Egoz\u201d – \u00a0\u201cIn a Nutshell\u201d which was released in 2010.<\/p>\n
Throughout the years, Yaron collaborated with many musicians including Mark Eliyahu, who had already been an important partner in \u201cOrian\u201d. The collaboration between the two continued onto the trio \u201cOr Shazur\u201d \u2013 \u201cInterwoven Light\u201d with Gil Hameiri.<\/p>\n
Yaron plays as a musician in Mark\u2019s albums and has played in various performances under the production of Mark and his father Peretz; including \u201cHayehudim HaHarari\u2019im\u201d \u2013 \u201cThe Mountainous Jews\u201d, which was performed as part of the Piyut Festival in 2011. To this day there continues an artistic collaboration between Mark and Yaron. The most recent fruit of their partnership is the album \u201cFor You Alone\u201d which is a recording of instrumental music composed by Yaron written for the Afghan rebab and the kimanche, accompanied by the guitar. The music touches upon passion, yearning and loss.<\/p>\n
Years of collaboration with musician Shai Ben Tsur have also brought forth many productions. Shai plays on Yaron\u2019s albums \u201cOrian\u201d and \u201cBo\u201d and Yaron plays in Shai\u2019s Indian ensemble and workshops.<\/p>\n
Throughout the years 2008-2012, Yaron produced and performed an original show at the Piyut festival in Jerusalem. The performance explored the meeting of cultures of India, Afghanistan, and the Hebrew song. Additionally, Yaron is a member of the New Jerusalem Choir of Machon Ben Tsvi under the leadership of Yair Halal and Rav Chaim Lok.<\/p>\n

For many years, Yaron participated in festivals of all kinds, including the Shantipi Festival, Bereshit, Zorba, The Sufi Festival, the Jerusalem Festival for Sacred Music, the Festival of Spiritual Theatre, and more.<\/p>\n
In 2010 during a one month voyage to California, Yaron recorded an album with the Helium group, under the production of Jah Levi. The album includes hymns from different cultures, in new and original renderings.<\/p>\n
In 2011 Yaron published the instrumental disk \u201cThe Sound of Hundred Colors\u201d anticipating the visit of his revered sard teacher, Santush Kumar, to Israel.<\/p>\n
Since 2009 Yaron has been an active member of the staff of \u201cHazmana L\u2019Piyut\u201d \u2013 \u201cAn Introduction to Hymns\u201d. There he teaches on the subject of Israeli hymns throughout Jewish history and the meeting point between them and the land of Israel today.<\/p>\n
In the winter of 2013, Yaron lived for half a year in Neot Smadar where he was the director of music and led daily summits in Indian music at 5 before sunrise and 6 in the evening. In addition, Yaron recorded, together with members of the community a selection of musical pieces that had been written in the place over the years.<\/p>\n
Yaron teaches music on a variety of ancient instruments and vocals according to the traditional Indian style. He also leads workshops in \u201cMusic as a path of Spirituality\u201d.<\/p>\n
Yaron also works as a musician on album recordings. To this day he has been a part of many album productions and has even been the musical manager on some.<\/p>\n
